Original sumi ink on Arches watercolor paper

This painting was a precursor to Out of Words 1, 2, and 3 (see description in the prints below in the Shop).

It came in response to news in 2020 and the range of responses to the deep issues of prejudice that we faced in a more direct way. Initially I did not know how to respond but I knew that we were definitely better together than divided. I painted a simplified version of what I wished to see, how I hoped society would look like, to be both obviously different but kind and understanding.
